I am not the only writer in the world. :) I want to support others wanting to glorify the Lord with their writing.
In a few weeks, I will feature other Christian authors from different genres.
I am looking forward to their interviews and I hope you are, too.
Happy reading and writing!!!!!!

SET YOUR MANUSCRIPT ASIDE FOR A FEW WEEKS
Setting a "finished" story aside for a few weeks can be beneficial.
I thought my second manuscript was ready for print. It had been through the fire by several people and I gave it a quick one last glance. After months passed, I began to hear the inner calling from the Lord telling me to look at the manuscript. I didn't. He continued, so I stopped fiddling with other things and obeyed.
As I slowly read through the manuscript, finding error after error, I stopped and gave thanks to the Lord (after apologizing for procrastinating) for telling me to give it another look. I found three pages worth of things that needed to be fixed.
Now, I know that even after making the changes, there will still be mistakes. That's just how things go. But, at least there will be a few mistakes and not over thirty.
So, I encourage you to please do two things...
1. If possible, please set your manuscript aside for a few weeks.
2. Dust it off and read it nice and slow...with a pen and paper handy.
Blessings to you!!
Sincerely - Kimberli

Moving Forward
Slowly, but surely, I have been plowing through the rough draft of the third book in the Shayia's Adventures series.
I think it is time to bring chapter nine to a close. I am not happy with the chapter at all, but the more I think about it, the worse it becomes.
As this is the first draft out of my head, I'm not sweating it. If I move on and focus on something new, it will give my brain a chance to deal with chapter nine when the time comes.
So...chapter ten...here I come!!!!!

Making A Difference
As an author, I believe it is important to try to make a difference in the world...for the better.
My first book, The Sword of Light: Shayia's Adventures - Book One, is my small start. Even though it is an easy-to-read chapter book, I believe it has much to teach our young people.
First, the book's main focus is that all things are possible through Christ. I want our young readers to learn that they should not rely on their own strength, but the power of our Lord. Second, we are not alone. With the support of family and friends, we can accomplish much. Third, reading can be fun. There are so many children that struggle with reading for different reasons - boring, too overwhelming to read long chapters, too confusing. The list goes on. I want the Lord to use me to write stories that are fun and full of page turning adventures.
So, please partner with me as we are called to write and make a difference. Let us bring fun and adventure to our young readers as we teach them about the Lord.

DEALING WITH THE UNEXPECTED
We have been working to prepare my second book, REDEMPTION: SHAYIA'S ADVENTURES - BOOK TWO, for print. Unfortunately the unexpected happened and dates were pushed back.
Now, I can get frustrated and allow bad attitudes to creep in, making things more difficult.
OR...
I can continue to put my trust in the Lord.
I choose to do the latter. He is the reason I write, so no matter what happens, the Lord is my main focus.
The Lord blessed me with awesome people to work with. I am extremely thankful for every single one of them.
So, when the unexpected happens to you, I encourage you to keep your focus on the Lord.
Keep writing!!!

iPad for Writers
Right before Christmas, the Lord blessed my husband with a free iPad. I had been wanting one since they were announced. Instead of keeping it for himself, he shared it with the family.
I use it more than anyone else in the family. (I think they are being nice.)
Although the iPad is fun to play with, I mainly wanted to use it for writing. At first, I was getting discouraged because I couldn't find any writing apps that worked for me, and typing on it turned out to be another challenge.
Now that I have had more time with it, I haven't really used the laptop or desktop. Once you find the right apps, you are pretty much set. As for typing, it gets easier as you continue to use it.
Here are some of the apps I use:
- Pages
- Keynotes (for creating book trailers)
- Docs To Go (premium)
- Printer Pro
- neu.Notes
If you have any apps to recommend, I'd love to know about them.

Back To Writing!!!
After the holidays and several birthdays, it has been nice getting back to working on my third book.
Right now, the main character and his friends are praying fervently. It draws me into worship.
I am praying that all the emotions that go into writing this series transfers into the story, so the readers will feel that they are on the journey.
Happy reading and writing!

TRYING TO KEEP MY HEAD CLEAR
With so many distractions, how do I keep my head clear?
Most of the time, I don't. I just push through and keep writing. Since I use several outlines, it keeps me on track - most of the time. After I get the full story out of my head and onto the computer, I normally have someone read it. I know it isn't ready for critique, but it helps to have other eyes look at it to make sure all the scenes connect to one another.
Right now, I'm transferring the story from my notebook onto the computer. The story is coming to life as I type out the words. I'm only on chapter seven (out of 16), but I'm well on my way. (Thank you, Lord.)
Thanks for listening!

Do we ever stop writing?
I don't think we do.
Even though things have been so busy in my household, and I have not picked up a pen or opened Word, I continue to work on my stories. They play in my head until I am able to sit and physically write.
So, I encourage all those that write...keep working on your stories even if you're not able to physically write.
God bless!
Sincerely - Kimberli

Write! Write! Write!
I need to add 11 pages to the second book (Redemption: Shayia's Adventures - Book Two). So far, I've only added three. Hopefully it won't be too hard to fill in the rest. (Guide me, Lord.)
We are working on a new Youtube video for the first book. The first video can be found at - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g24buPdbSX8
The third book is on hold while I work on the second book.
The Lord has not given me a fourth book for this series. I'm continuing to pray for His direction.
I've written a television movie treatment for a Disney Channel movie. So...if anyone out there is looking for a movie to produce. ;)
Praying for all those called to write.

Oops! A little behind in posting!!!
So much has happened in my life, but I won't go into it.
As for writing, I've finished my second book! Praise the Lord. We are praying to release it in September as we re-release my first book with its fresh new cover. It looks awesome.
I have been working on the third book. It's been SLOW going.
The Lord has truly blessed me with wonderful people in my life - family, friends, publisher and associates. I am truly humbled.
Well, it's really late and my mind is... I don't know. :)
I pray you all have a blessed day/night. In Jesus name.
Sincerely - Kimberli

Writing Update!
Hello Everyone!
It's been awhile since I've given an update.
I don't know if I've mentioned this before, but writing with a 3-year-old can be tough. :)
Thankfully, it's summer break and my 15-year-old has offered to watch his brother while I write. This is a HUGE blessing.
So...
I'm now beginning chapter 14 of my second book. The book will have 16 chapters, so I'm almost done with the first draft. Praise the Lord!
Don't forget to pick up a copy of - The Sword of Light: Shayia's Adventures Book One - at Target.com and Amazon.com to name a few.
If you're on Youtube, check out the book trailer! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g24buPdbSX8
Lastly, I'm still looking for reviews!!!!

So...what's been going on?
Sorry it's been a while since I've posted.
MUST GET BOOK TRAILER DONE! :)
I've been working hard trying to create a book trailer. Thanks to wonderful writing groups and the internet, I've learned how to create a book trailer using Windows Movie Maker.
Through some trials and MAJOR errors, I'm getting the hang of it.
Steve Ott, an artist, drew all the sketches and they look incredible.
I'll have it done by March 8th and will try to post it on the blog.
Have to get back to work!!!!!!

River Lights Bookstore, 2nd Edition
The Lord truly blessed me this weekend as I traveled to Dubuque, Iowa to have my book signing at the River Lights Bookstore, 2nd Edition.
How many books did I sell? None.
Why am I blessed? I was able to meet the bookstore owner. She was able to see what kind of person I am, therefore, she can share with others. She now knows my name and is willing to do what she can to promote my book.
I want to thank you for your prayers!
God is good!!!!!
